2022

American Tower joins the United Nations Global Compact and adopts the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles, demonstrating the Company’s unwavering responsibility to a principles-based approach to corporate sustainability that upholds a commitment to people and the planet.

2021

American Tower acquires CoreSite Realty Corporation, adding over 20 highly interconnected data center facilities and cloud onramps in eight U.S. markets.

American Tower adds approximately 31,000 communications sites to its portfolios in Latin America and Europe and launches operations in Spain, as part of its Telxius transaction. The Company also expands its presence in Asia-Pacific by launching operations in the Philippines and Bangladesh.

American Tower adopts science-based targets (SBTs), which are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and in line with the global greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals set forth in the 2015 Paris Agreement. The establishment of SBTs across its global operations and supply chain reflect the Company’s dedication to advancing its sustainability program.

2020

The American Tower Board of Directors names Tom Bartlett President and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 16. Previously, Mr. Bartlett served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for American Tower for more than ten years, joining the Company from Verizon Communications, Inc.

American Tower acquires InSite Wireless Group, LLC , adding approximately 3,000 communication sites, primarily in the U.S. and Canada. Through this acquisition, American Tower launches operations in Canada and Australia.

2019

American Tower acquires Eaton Towers Holdings Limited, adding approximately 5,800 sites to its African portfolio, acquires approximately 2,400 sites in Chile and Peru and constructs more than 4,500 sites globally.

American Tower named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Mid-Size Employers and America's Best Employers for Diversity.

2018

American Tower launches operations in Kenya with the acquisition of over 700 towers from Telkom Kenya. Additionally, the Company adds close to 20,000 sites in India from transactions with Idea Cellular and Vodafone India.

Jim Taiclet and American Tower are recognized for the company’s tremendous growth and success during his tenure as CEO with EY's Entrepreneur of the Year award, and American Tower named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Mid-Size Employers.

2017

American Tower named to Fortune magazine’s Fortune 500 for the first time in the Company's history. The Fortune 500 is a prestigious annual ranking of the largest U.S. corporations by total revenue and includes both public and privately held companies.

2016

American Tower acquires a 51 percent controlling ownership interest in Viom Networks Limited, along with over 42,000 communications sites in India, contributing to our global portfolio.

American Tower establishes its global treasury center in the Netherlands, headquartered in Amsterdam, to ensure secure and timely access to capital in support of its continued international growth.

The Company also expands its presence to Argentina with the acquisition of a portfolio of urban telecommunications assets in the country.

The National Association of Corporate Directors, New England Chapter, named our Board as the “2016 Public Company Board of the Year.”
